What is obiage?

Obiage is the sash that covers the obimakura (a pillow that puffs up the obi and makes the bow look fuller) and keeps it in place on the obi. It is still visible from the front view of a person wearing kimono as the strip of cloth above the obi, as shown below, circled in green.

My collection of obiage (yes I sooooo need dark colours!):

Since I mentioned it, I thought I might as well show an obimakura:

Dear Priscilla

My name is Mireia and I'm also a kimono lover, but i began later than you, just a few years ago. I've been looking for buying a kimono since the begining, but as the ones I like usually are so expensive, i've decided to begin buying a yukata.

I finally saw in a web a yukata that was just wonderful for me (I mean, i think it's just beautiful), but the problem is the webpage where i saw it was all in japanese. I have a basic level, so I'm not able to understand it all, and i don't have any japanase friend that could help me with this.

I was wondering if you could please help me with this. I just want to know if there's any chance of buying this yukata. I'd understand, of course, for you not to accept and even don't reply this comment. But at least, i need to try everything i can.

Thank you, and keep that incredible dream of opening your own kimono shop! I really like this blog.

Gratefully,

Mireia.
